The History of ADT and ADT Alarm Systems.

ADT alarm system has been the vanguard of security and monitoring technology for more than 125 years.  You can only expect the best from this top-notch company that offers superior and unmatched security systems.  The company ensures state of the art alarm systems that have been favored by companies.

The company came from humble beginnings.  ADT started as a Telegraph Messenger Service.  It might seem odd to see a Telegraph company turn into a security system company, but as you read through its history you’ll find out how the company fits in with its old concept.

57 District telegraph delivery companies tied-up to form American District Telegraph in somewhere around 1874.  With the company’s multi-signal electric protection system and advanced call Boxes the company earned a reputation.  They lead the security protection business during early 1890s.

ADT operated as a telegraph messenger service on its early years.  The call boxes provide interactive communication between ADT and its customers.  With there further development of call boxes, ADT decided to offer security and protection services to different clients.  Thus, ADT alarm system originated from call boxes.

The call boxes are multi-signal and enabled guards at business do more than just signal for aid from police and fire department.  It allowed watchers to send certain signals to the ADT office at chose schedules for the monitoring office to recognize that everything is in order.  If the watchers of the clients do not give a signal as scheduled, it is a standard procedure of ADT to send aid immediately and assumes that something is wrong.

Under the leadership of AT&T in 1910 to 1930, ADT started to concentrate on developing signal, security and protection service.  For that reason the company was comparable to emergency call systems.  At this same time ADT stopped producing ADT alarm systems.

When war erupted, domestic workforce shortage resulted to the demand for better alarm systems to detect trouble and signal an alarm automatically.  It is the time that ADT had to come up with an automated alarm system.  Because of the company’s unique systems and services integration it was coherent that ADT should take a step towards making automatic systems.  As a result, Teletherm automatic fire detections system and Telewave automatic intrusion system emerged.

Throughout the course of the century, ADT went on with producing technological breakthroughs.  ADT introduced a whole new line of alarm systems like wireless Safewatch systems, integrated Focus system line, and various access control and closed-circuit television (CCTV) products.
