Each time we come across the word “alarm system”, the first thought that comes into our mind is security. From its earlier models to the recent and more sophisticated alarm systems. It is the number antagonist of burglars and robbers around the world. Disarming the alarm systems are the first and the worst problem of burglars, they have to go through it before they can succeed on their plans.
Alarm systems are essential to protect people and their possessions at home and business. It ensures safety and peace of mind. Having an alarm system is an advantage; it gives a warning from individuals who may be a threat on your home or business. If an individual is planning to break-in to your house or business but finds out that you have an alarm system installed they might have second thoughts on continuing their bad intent.
Alarm systems go in different kinds. Some alarm systems that are for preventing intrusions, while others detect fire and warn owners of fire emergency. These systems range from the simplest to the most advance, from dedicated to multitasking, from silent to loud noisemakers. You can also find Alarm systems for vehicles like cars, boats and trucks.
There are five components in an alarm system:
1. Control Panel – it is the main control system that serves as the brain of the alarm system.
2. Keypad – usually found at the main entrance. The keypad is responsible for handling the alarm system, for disarming and arming of the system.
3. Magnet contacts – installed on windows and doors of the place being secured. When the contacts are taken apart and separated it automatically triggers the alarm.
4. Sensors – the most common sensor is the motion sensors. It detects movements from sensors placed on doors and windows. Another advanced system is the heat sensors which detects the slightest change of temperature and body heat.
5. Alarms – though this is the last component of an alarm system this is considered to be one of the most important. It is usually a loud siren; some may even have flashing lights to attract attention. There are also silent alarms which notifies only the owner or the monitoring company during a possible break-in.
There are also DIY or “do-it-yourself” alarm systems found on home improvement centers that are easy to set up. Whether you are using the most advanced alarm systems, it is best to set up an alarm system in the proper way and maintain as often as you can. And of course use it regularly to have an effective security system around your house or business.
