While installing mini blinds is not difficult, it does require precision.
Your first step to successful installation is accurate measuring. Decide if your blinds will be mounted on the inside, or outside, of your window frame. Blinds mounted on the inside will have a more customized look; those on the outside will control light more effectively.
To mount you blinds on the inside, decide where you will place the side and middle brackets, and measure the distances between them. Write down the narrowest of the measurements; then measure the depth of the upper inside window sill casing. You’ll need a minimum of one inch of flat surface on which to attach your brackets. It there is less than one inch, you’ll have to go with an outside mount.
When mounting your blind to the outside of your window frame, measure the total width of the area it will be covering. The measurement should extend beyond each side of the window by no less than one-and-one-half inches.
Once you’ve measured your window, you can install the blind. First, remove the window stop. You’ll find it located on the upper casing of the window.
Take the brackets that were included with your blinds and screw them into the upper side window casings, with the screws which were also include with your blinds. You should have either two or three screws for each bracket.
Insert the mini blind into the bracket, making sure the wand is to your left, and the cord to your right.
When the mini blinds are secure, hide the brackets with the caps which came with them.
If your mounted blinds need shortening, you can simply remove the necessary number of lower slats. And you’re done! Installing your mini blinds is now behind you and you can enjoy your new window treatments.
