Screened Canopies: Getting The Most Of Your Outdoor Activities Using Screened Canopies

Screened canopies are usually used outdoors. The term canopy here is used to refer to a temporary structure that provides cover, consisting of four poles or supports and a roof of canvas or vinyl. So, basically, canopies are tents without walls. Screened canopies improve upon this basic design by adding screens as sort of walls, to keep insects and the like out of the covered area.

These outdoor canopies are most often used for recreational activities, such as luncheons, dinners, barbecues, picnics, and garden or poolside gatherings. These canopies provide shelter from the heat of the sun, and screened canopies provide additional protection against insects. These canopies provide versatility and convenience, as they can be put to a lot of different purposes, and are easy to assemble or transport.

Basic canopies come in different sizes. The bigger of these can be used as carports, or shelter for vehicles (anywhere in size from motorcycles to RV’s and mobile homes). Canopies can also be used to shelter delicate plants from the elements, as well as other outdoor assets: outdoor areas that are under repair, gardens that are freshly planted, and so on. Some canopies can be attached to a wall or building for added stability but most are freestanding with four poles that can be firmly set into the ground.

Screened canopies however are usually intended to be outdoor recreation areas. As previously mentioned these canopies provide a great place to hold outdoor events such as parties and the like. Since these canopies can easily be moved and installed anywhere, utilities such as electrical wiring from the house can readily be made available to the canopy area. This allows for such things as sound systems and lighting, which can make for a great night event venue. Imagine being able to hold a party in your garden at night, without having to worry about pesky mosquitoes or even inclement weather!

These canopies are not just for occasional events. Screened canopies can virtually be an additional room for your family, especially on cool days. They can act much like a gazebo, and with the addition of a table and a few chairs, these screened canopies can be a relaxing place to spend the afternoon.

Screened canopies are available in a wide range of sizes and prices. They can be a reasonably priced investment that would definitely pay off many times over. They are portable, convenient, and versatile outdoor shelters.
