A white jewelry armoire may not be as common a sight as armoires of dark woods finished with deep varnishes, but is just as convenient, secure, and beautiful addition to any jewelry owner’s bedroom. Either in traditional wood or in metal, keeping one’s jewelry and accessories in a jewelry armoire is slowly becoming a more popular choice.
Traditional jewelry boxes are often no bigger than a foot in length or half that in width and depth, and are often lined with soft, rich fabrics such as velvet. While jewelry boxes can no doubt also hold one’s jewelry, the risk of necklaces, bracelets, and watch straps tangling together is significant and dangerous, especially for jewelry boxes that consist of just a single compartment.
Some jewelry boxes contain trays and are divided into compartments, but as one’s jewelry collection grows, it is often found that a mere jewelry box can no longer hold all of the pieces in the jewelry and accessory collection. This is when jewelry armoires can step in and provide their own style of elegant solution to this problem.
Jewelry armoires range in size from ones that could be placed on top of desks, just a bit larger and taller than jewelry boxes, to taller and larger ones that can stand on their own. Jewelry armoires have several design features that make them ideal for storing one’s precious jewelry and treasured accessories.
Down the middle of most jewelry armoires run drawers. These drawers are often lined with velvet or some other soft fabric to help prevent damage to any jewelry that is going to be stored in them. Moreover, special storage features such as ring rolls for rings and screens or cushion for earrings can also be installed, in certain armoires.
To the sides of these drawers open doors to necklace and bracelet compartments. These compartments contain hooks from which these chain jewelries could be hung. Most jewelry armoires also boast of a top compartment whose door has a built in mirror. This compartment usually has space for an assortment of one’s favorite jewelry, such as an heirloom necklace, a bracelet with sentimental value, or a locket with a treasured picture of a lost loved one.
These compartments and drawers are certainly convenient in storing and organizing jewelry collections, but can they be secured? Of course! Jewelry armoires with locking drawers and compartments are available to add another measure of security for one’s most valuable and precious possessions.
So a wooden or metal, unpainted or white jewelry armoire can indeed be a wise investment. Not only will it provide more storage space, but also convenience and the possibility for implementing additional security measures. Not to mention the beauty of these jewelry armoires that can truly liven up a bare bedroom.
