Bathroom Shelves: Installing Shelves In Your Bathroom
Bathroom shelves installation tips
Bathroom shelves do not seem to be more difficult to install than any other type of shelves, but that’s not true. You have to keep in mind more things during bathroom shelves installation than during typical installation. The bathroom is different from all other rooms and you have to remember about that all the time.
How tough are your shelves?First of all, before you buy your bathroom shelves, check how tough they are. And bathroom shelves’ toughness should be counted not only by the weight they can support, but also by their resistance to water. Bathroom shelves will constantly be in contact with water and some materials may rot or mold after a few months, changing your bathroom shelves from pieces of furniture into very expensive pieces of wood in your fireplace. |
Installing bathroom shelves on the wall:
When you choose your bathroom shelves, you have to install them on some point on the wall. And here come two problems:
(1) how to install them correctly, so they wouldn’t fall of the wall. Moisture works also on the screws you use to install bathroom shelves, so you have to remember to buy the screws that won’t become rusty in a month.
(2) The second is shelves’ placement - remember to choose the place for bathroom shelves carefully – in a bathroom things should be easily available even if you reach for them while you’re drying yourself with a towel.
Electric equipment on the shelves:
But all these tips are unimportant compared to the last of them. Never, ever place any electric equipment on your bathroom shelves. Most of home accidents are caused by some piece of electric equipment (usually a hairdryer) falling into a tub. Putting such equipment on open bathroom shelves is a very bad idea – it’s better to keep it in drawers.
