Cheap Table Lamps: Should You Buy Cheap Table Lamps?

It is easy to buy cheap table lamps. The only problem is to buy a lamp that you will be able to use longer than a few months. Below there are a few tips on how to choose cheap table lamps – cheap, but useful.

1. Flexibility of the lamp’s construction: Flexibility is the key to making the purchase as cheap as it is possible, because it reduces the number of table lamps you will buy in your life - not to mention that it's easier to change the look of a lamp with a new shade in an exciting color, pattern or fabric.

If you choose a lamp with a replaceable lampshade, you will be able to use the lamp for years. The only thing you’ll have to do will be to buy a new lampshade when you grow tired of the old one. It is much cheaper than buying an entire new lamp every year or two.

2. Shipping fees:

If you think you’ve found a source of really cheap table lamps, make sure to check the shipping fees. Sometimes they can be as high as 20% of the shipped item’s worth.

3. Quality vs. price:

Last, but not least: do not buy too cheaply! Table lamps are usually items that are bought for years. If you save too much money while buying them, you risk that the lamp will fall apart after a year or so and you will be forced to buy a new one. In a few years you can spend twice as much as some better lamp costs, and still worry that your new, very cheap table lamp won’t see next Christmas.

Honestly, you need to buy the best lamp you can afford. At the very least buy a table lamp that is good enough to work for the next five or ten years.

Sometimes buying inexpensively doesn't work. I can remember that buying a cheap backpack for my kids to cart to school meant that I ended up buying about three per year. One Christmas I decided to spend the money for really goiod ones and they lasted for years. In the end, they were less expensive than the so-called cheap ones. Buying cheap table lamps is the same.
