Contemporary Chandeliers: The Renaissance Of Contemporary Chandeliers

Contemporary chandeliers have caused a renaissance of chandeliers in the decorating business! Not long ago this kind of lighting was widely regarded as outdated and the chandeliers themselves were considered almost useless pieces of home decoration. Now tastes have changed and there are many people who buy contemporary chandeliers for their homes and install them – with great decorative results.

In contemporary home décor, the role of chandeliers is different from fifty years ago. They are no longer treated as a main light source, but as an extremely fashionable decorative item. What can we expect from chandeliers?

Contemporary chandeliers are still very poor light sources. Whatever could have been changed to improve the quality of light chandeliers emit has already been done. Unless you plan to use some extremely powerful light bulbs, contemporary chandeliers shouldn’t be the only light source in any rooms.

However this does not mean that chandeliers are useless – both old-fashioned and contemporary chandeliers can be wonderful pieces of room decoration. They add some style to rooms where they’re installed. They give a warmer look to the room and make it look less empty while not actually using up any space. This is especially important when we need to create a welcoming but spacious living room or dining room.

Where should we NOT install chandeliers?

In contemporary house decoration we often install contemporary chandeliers in living or dining rooms. This way we can profit from their decorative values. But as they are rather poor light sources, it is unadvised to have them installed in kitchens or any other “workrooms”.
