For years the best tool for saving the documents from a fire was a safe and a fireproof file cabinet was a simple contradiction – until 1980s most cabinets were being made of wood and they definitely weren’t fireproof. But with the technological development around 1990s, a fireproof file cabinet has soon started to compete with an old-fashioned safe.

When buying a fireproof file cabinet, keep in mind that being shockproof is much more important for a cabinet than another fire resistant layer.

The rest are details. If your fireproof file cabinet is also shockproof, all you have to do is to make sure if the cabinet you’re buying is big enough for all your files and documents.
