Hardwood Furniture: Is Hardwood Furniture Worth The Extra Cost?

Is hardwood furniture worth the extra money? To us, the question is hardly worth answering because the answer is yes! yes! and yes!

Of course, sometimes purchasing hardwood furniture might not be possible. Sometimes money is just to scarce for such considerations (we remember what it's like to be a broke college student!)

And sometimes it might not be desirable. For instance, putting hardwood furniture on a porch with high humidity and the heat of the sun might not be wise. But a homeowner is almost always better off buying one good piece of hardwood furniture, rather than four pieces of junk.

Why hardwood furniture?

Solid hardwood furniture costs dearly, that’s true, but hardwood is worth its price. Hardwood furniture is made of maple, oak, cherry or birch and, unlike fiberboard plywood or particle board, it can last for generations, even with minimal care.Reliability of your furniture: Hardwood is always a superior material for wooden furniture. It is almost impossible to bend or break a piece of hardwood-made furniture. You may not care if your grandchildren use your armchair, but you will probably care if the armchair will last next few years. It costs a lot, but it is worth the extra money. Really good furniture makers certainly won't spend their time on press board or other inferior materials. Therefore your piece might look good, but it will rapidly deteriorate. No point in buying furniture and having to replace it in a relatively short period of time.

Hardwood furniture appearance:

Hardwood furniture is also a luxury and since most of the hardwood furniture’s pieces are finely crafted, hardwood furniture has been widely associated with being rich and aristocratic. It adds a pinch of style to every home, even the smallest. In addition, quality wooden furniture has a luster and patina that can't be found on imitation wood pieces. In addition, the beautiful grains of real wood are unmistakable and simply can't be duplicated. Do You Want 'Sets' Of Furniture? Do you want all your hardwood pieces to match? Or at least, the main furniture in the room? Some people like this while others are horrified at the idea and prefer the eclectic approach where pieces are mismatched. Here is a great example ... our Betty Crocker kitchen cart is matched with its complementary dining table. Same rug, same room, same colors and materials. The individuality comes with the accessories and other colors in the room.

Whatever furniture you decide to buy, think it through first. Otherwise, you will destroy the decorative effect of having hardwood furniture and effectively spend your money on nothing.
